November 2--Day 118

So, in case you were wondering, this is what my campus looks like at 5a.m. You haven't wondered that before? Me neither. But, we were up dark and early to head into the city for the "When Socrates Meets Confucius" speech competition! We've been prepping a bunch of students for this since August. Only two made it to this Provincial round, Hillary and Bruce. They both did a great job, but after four hours of listening about Socrates and Confucius, they didn't make it to the national round ;( They were pretty devastated, but we were proud of them. It was a great experience, actually. A bunch of our other students came along to watch, so we got to spend some time with them. We bonded, really. Waking up that early and spending all day together will do that, I guess. We walked over to the bus with Bruce in the morning. Because it was still pitch black, we could see the constellations! That was really awesome, actually. Orion, Tarus, Gemini. All those guys. Alison and I were really excited about it until Bruce genuinely, "Do you need to stop and pray to the stars?" Oh, Bruce. You're breaking my heart, kid.
